Firle - A History of the Village.

The most notable aspect about Firle Village as you wind your way up the narrow street, is most likely to be how unspoilt and unaffected the area is compared with modern day pace. You could almost say 'like stepping back in time'.

Many events are held in or around the Village throughout the year, including craft fairs, horse shows and entertainment carnivals. Social life in the Village for many locals centres around 'The Ram Inn', which offers fine Ales and food.Very popular at the Weekends, 'The Ram Inn' offers a welcome break to visitors and ramblers alike.Oh yes, and beware the Hooray Henries!

Other mainstays of the Village are 'Firle Primary School' with approx. 160 pupils, the 'Village Store' with its sub-Post Office, and the 'Village Hall' which caters for many other events through the year.
Firle Church, resides at the South end of the Village, where, in the Gage Chapel, are its most notable treasures, three altar tombs designed as a set and installed about 1595.
